About Us

When we moved from Iowa to Oregon in 2002, we bought our first house. It was a basic ranch in the suburbs. And while we liked it, but four years later we realized our love (bordering on obsession) with animals was outgrowing the suburbs. So we headed for the hills, literally!

We are now nestled on 40 acres about 10 miles west of Banks. Our 40 acres are surrounded by hundreds of acres of Tillamook State Forest, BLM and Timber company land, and one great neighbor.

All kinds of critters have taken their second residence here (we have a bit of a rescue obsession). Mia and Moses, our two great danes, lead the way on hikes. Pickles, the rescued pot belly pig, has declared himself the third dog. Vern and Willie, our blackberry mowers, aka goats, often join the daily hikes. The cats, Dawson and Cheyenne, are expert mouse catchers and tree climbers, but their favorite past time is teasing the dogs. And finally P.J. the lovebird, who enjoys singing a few tunes to entertain guests around the wood stove. We also have had various foster dogs at times.

So as you can see from our crazy zoo, we sort of like animals! And that doesn't even mention all of the actual wildlife around the woods. So be assured, we have LOTS of animal experience, and love dogs of all shapes and sizes. Thus our reason for opening up our home to dog camping, so we can enjoy even more of our furry friends, and get the bonus of taking good care of yours!
