About Us
When we moved from Iowa to Oregon in 2002, we bought our first house. It was a basic ranch in the suburbs. And while we liked it, four years later we realized our love (bordering on obsession) with animals was outgrowing the suburbs. So we headed for the hills, literally!
We are now nestled on 40 acres about 10 miles west of Banks. Our 40 acres are surrounded by hundreds of acres of Tillamook State Forest, BLM and Timber company land, and one great neighbor. All kinds of critters have taken their second residence here, both past and present. From dogs to goats, chickens, birds, cats and even a pot bellied pig (we have a bit of a rescue obsession), they all have fun. We also care for various foster dogs during times of need.
Currently roaming our woods are Mia and Moose, our two great danes, leading the way on hikes. The cat, Dawson, is an expert mouse catcher and tree climber, but his favorite past time is teasing the dogs. A dozen chickens and their fearless rooster make plenty of noise down in the play zone. And finally P.J. the lovebird, who enjoys singing a few tunes to entertain guests around the wood stove.
So as you can see from our crazy zoo, we sort of like animals! And that doesn't even mention all of the actual wildlife around the woods. So be assured, we have LOTS of animal experience, and love dogs of all shapes and sizes. Thus our reason for opening up our home to dog camping, so we can enjoy even more of our furry friends, and get the bonus of taking good care of yours!
